The Secret Life Of Pets tops the USA box office
As mentioned above, the film gets a shot of adrenaline with Kevin Hart’s character and mannerisms, but it just isn’t enough to keep a grownup from dozing off.

“The Secret Life of Pets” racked up an impressive $103.2 million in its debut weekend, according to industry tracker Exhibitor Relations, raking in five times the earnings of its closest competition to nab first place. The previous record-holder was Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out”, which opened to $90.4 million a year ago.
But “Finding Dory” also hit a milestone this weekend. Globally, Dory has paddled past the $600 million mark. Instead, the competition will most likely come from the animated film Secret Life of Pets which opened July 8 and is already tracking to have an opening weekend haul of almost $100 million, the New York Post points out. The Secret Life of Pets, which received an A- CinemaScore from audiences, was directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2) and co-directed by Yarrow Cheney and written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio and Brian Lynch.
The ribald “Mike And Dave Need Wedding dates” debuted in fourth place, with $16.6 million in opening weekend sales.
That’s the biggest opening ever for an animated title that wasn’t a sequel or spin-off, besting “Inside Out” (.4 million).
The film about the little blue fish actually fell to third place with $20.4 million (£15.7 million), behind The Legend Of Tarzan, which took in $20.6 million (£15.9 million).
An ever moving screen, action packed flawless for our video gaming generation, but also very familiar (if you have or have ever had a pet), and completely heart embracing film. The movie, which cost around $140 million to make, has earned a dismal $38.7 million to date.

Going into the weekend, analysts predicted it would earn only around $70 million, which would still have been a big success.
