The three heroes are played by Austin Butler as the half-human, half-elf Will, Ivana Baquero as human rover Eretria and Poppy Drayton as Elvin Princess Amberle.

If you took Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games and tossed them in a blender built by The CW, you might end up with something like MTV’s The Shannara Chronicles NYCC trailer. Watch the trailer below.

There’s a few great action sequences, the usual stuff about the “Chosen”, a hoary old King giving a group of adventurers a task to save the realm, and plenty of classical fantasy elements with a new and unique twist. There will certainly be enough time to understand each of these picturesque younger good guys due to the fact the ad goes on. Much like the book series, I doubt anyone is going to accuse the Shannara show of overwhelming originality, but it still could be fun. A new trailer was also shown at Comic-Con.
