The Strain is being resurrected for a third season

In other FX Networks news, FX sister service FXX will debut in 2016 a new animated series Cassius and Clay, which follows the exploits of two bandits looking to survive in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic American South, said network officials.

Four weeks into The Strain’s sophomore season, the FX horror drama has been picked up for a third, to air next summer.

In the current second season, the transformation has begun.

Eric Schrier, president of original programming, FX Networks and FX Productions said he’s excited to see Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse continue to adapt the trilogy of the original “The Strain” novels to the small screen. This matches up to what happened last year as the second season got a thirteen episode order back in August 2014 that we’ve been covering this summer. Its citizens must fight or die. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his unlikely allies tried to take down the embodiment of this evil – the Master – and failed. The series also features Mia Maestro and David Bradley. Meanwhile, the Master is out for revenge, unleashing new and even more terrifying breeds of bloodthirsty creatures after our team.

The ratings are still great enough to make this happen, and we know that executive producers Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse want the show to be somewhere between three and five seasons.
