According to a report by analyst platform Sensor Tower, the app has a total of 50 million downloads from the Google Play store alone. While Pokemon Go has been a social phenomenon, with parks and streets in cities from NY to Tokyo filled with people chasing virtual pocket monsters on their phones.

Pokemon Go is now available for a range of countries and Niantic are still releasing the game to many other places in the world.

However, despite players typically running the Pokemon GO application for relatively long periods of time, this has not made an impact on other big-name mobile games such as Mobile Strike, Clash of Clans or Candy Crush Saga. Interestingly enough, App Annie also stated that Pokemon GO has reached over $10 million in daily revenue for Nintendo and this prompted the business to take a look to see how the upstart game has changed the app and gaming landscape. “Instead, it has opened up new engagement and revenue opportunities for the entire app ecosystem by creating a model to close the online-to-offline (O2O) loop”. The Kyoto-based company has said that it doesn’t expect a huge boost from the app, which it developed with Pokemon Co. and Niantic Inc.

“On the whole, this isn’t particularly surprising as the majority of game revenue comes from a small minority of users and these players are unlikely to be deeply engaged across a multitude of top-grossing games”, the report reads. According to some posts on Reddit forum, many iOS users after downloading the v1.0.1 update are not able to log in to the game.
