WITHAM schools are celebrating their best ever GCSE results this year.
Headteacher Simon Ellis said: “We knew the pupils were good but I have to say they’ve smashed all previous school records and their performance will be one of the best in Wales”.
Robbie Colgate, the school’s current headboy, was “very pleased with his results”.
Our students have achieved wonderful results and we look forward to welcoming many of them back into our thriving sixth form.
Morgane Dumas achieved “outstanding” results including 10 A*s.
“We wish all the students every success in the future as they make decisions over future training, education and employment”.
Ross, of Chapel Lane, Hadleigh, said: “It’s been really hard work because I’ve been balancing the two, but the school’s been really supportive”.
EAGER students started to queue outside the hall entrance at John of Gaunt to collect their GCSE results this morning.
He said overall the results across all GCSE subjects demonstrated “real stability”.
There were 35 students who achieved ten or more A*-A grades and 27 gaining seven or more A* grades.
“Our ethos of “Achievement for Everyone” and high quality teaching enables our students to flourish and achieve their goals”.
Mr Colgate now plans to study A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology at St David’s College.
Our year 11 students worked very hard sitting multiple sets of mock examinations and often staying late on a Friday night to work with their teachers.
Particular mention should go to Sean Cross who achieved the top results at GCSE with 5 A*, 4 A and 1 B grade and will be returning to St. Mary’s to continue his studies at A Level.
