It was very sad news when earlier this year when Canadian rock royalty The Tragically Hip revealed that frontman Gord Downie had terminal brain cancer. But the Hip still went ahead with a 15-show tour which passed through much of the country. And tens of thousands of fans – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau among them – are expected to be there.

Earlier this month, the City of Yellowknife announced it would show the band’s last set on a big screen outside City Hall on August 20.

Tickets to the Hip’s tour sold out nearly immediately as fans raced against scalpers, who commonly use bot software to grab tickets and sell them at a marked-up price.

The CBC will be airing the legendary band’s final concert, set to take place in Kingston, Ontario, at 8:30 p.m. ET and ET Canada’s Rick Campanelli will be taking you live to the concert grounds through our social media channels.

Both casual and loyal Hip fans have been making plans for how they’re going to watch.

Fans who were shut out from attending the live event have been planning viewing parties across the country, while some local communities are holding public screenings and afternoon entertainment in the lead-up to the concert.
