It’s true! Ms. Jones is an avid bacon fan, starting each day with bacon and eggs. In fact, she has a sign in her kitchen that reads “Bacon makes everything better”. Jones’ family thinks it is not just healthy diet orsleep, but also her love of family and generosity to others that should be credited for her longevity.
Jones has lived through a lot of history with her bacon.
Jones, who was born in Alabama on July 6, 1899, is one of only two known living people who were alive in the 19th century. Born the third out of eleven children, Jones attended a special school for African-American girls, graduated, and then joined her father on his work across cotton fields.
She was one of 11 siblings and worked as a nanny, after moving to New Jersey and New York.
She started her daily diet of bacon when she transferred to a public housing complex of elderly people more than 30 years ago. She already lost her eyesight and has hearing difficulties, but she is not bedridden and only needs two medications every day, according to Guinness World Records. It’s said to revitalize energy levels, naturally lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and can also alleviate the risk of heart disease.
Of course, she does include fruit for lunch before turning to the classic meat, potatoes and vegetables for dinner. She has no shortage of family members though, and spent her birthday surrounded by majority of her 100 nieces and nephews.
Her niece, Myra Simpson, 40, said that she is still alert even for her age. Only a few months younger than Jones, she is the oldest living person in Europe.

Her relatives, however, insist that the key to a long and happy life is heart.
