‘The Vampire Diaries’ alum Torrey DeVitto cast in NBC’s ‘Chicago Med’ series

Whether you loved her or hated her, Andrea was a character that was a huge part of several plotlines for the show and was one of the established actresses who was entrusted with the future of the zombie survival drama.

The spinoff will be a weekly drama focusing on the lives of the employees at Chicago Med and the topical cases they will face everyday in a high-intensity emergency room setting.

That’s right, Donnell’s previously nameless pediatric surgeon finally has a name and, judging by the photo, we might have just met Chicago Med’s very own McDreamy.

The current spin off of the series “Chicago Fire”, “Chicago Med“, is still weeks away from its television debut but the show is already getting a lot of buzz. “We are sorry to see her go”. The report specifically mentions that the show was planning to add some more news people even before Holden made her decision, so for the time being our feeling here is to treat this casting as fairly independent from whatever decision was made there.

“I am so grateful to Dick Wolf, my fellow cast members, NBC and the entire Chicago Med team for their understanding”, Holden said in a statement.

Additionally, both Chicago shows crossed over with Law & Order: SVU twice last season – both to heightened ratings success – in November and in April.

Of course, this means speculation will continue to run wild about Laurie Holden making a return to the rejuvenated series The X-Files.

A spokesperson for Chicago Med also issued the following statement in relation to Laurie Holden’s departure from the show. Her other credits include recurring roles on “Major Crimes“, “The Shield” and “The X-Files”.
