The Vampire Diaries brings the insane with a wild plot twist
Julian tells Lily that she is unrecognizable and he doesn’t see the woman he fell in love with. She’s a different person now, and if he wants to be around her, he is also going to have to adjust. Due to the body inhabiting the vampiric soul from the Phoenix Stone being human, it is slowly deteriorating.

Three years from now, Bonnie is in group therapy. If not for that, doesn’t it seem a bit out of left field? He clearly has a plan, but we don’t know what it is yet. He knows about Julian’s actions toward Valerie and their baby, and is ready to take him out. Not to be outdone in cleverness, Valerie insinuates that there’s a big reason Stefan is helping her get rid of Julian, using the fact that he didn’t tell Caroline to drive a wedge between them. Focused on making sure Damon doesn’t go completely rogue, Stefan now faces with the dilemma of his feelings for Lily. Well, at least they don’t have to write in Candice’s bump!
Valerie then announces that she’ll leave to put clothes on, which leaves a slightly fuming Caroline with Stefan.
We open with a dream between Stefan and his “son” Jacob. The war is in full swing with Lily’s “daughters”, as the new Mean Girls, contributing to the unfolding pandemonium that has broken out in Mystic Falls. In the flashforward Tyler (Michael Trevino) was seen driving around NY City when he got a call from Stefan asking him to contact Caroline. The next vampire who comes along can sign me up, I always say, ’cause I am down to live forever. Something Oscar may have kept in his auto. Bonnie mockingly asks Enzo in the clip.
Valerie says he promised not to tell anyone but she didn’t know that included her. Caroline asks for the skinny but Valerie won’t blab. Bonnie and Matt have to team up on a weird mission that leaves them puzzled. He is hooked up to an IV. So, she and Matt follow his trail, which leads to a group of people in a classroom, hooked up to IVs. They are mutated witches, in a way, who have discovered that they can also be vampires, which up until now has been impossible.
Indeed, so bloodthirsty was Stefan for revenge that he actually sidelined his own brother because he wanted to kill Julian himself and didn’t care much for Damon’s intention to go the long con route and kill Julian once he and Lily had time to get settled and complacent.
For once, though, I actually think Lily was in the dark on this one. Stefan then attacks Julian and throws him into the fire but Lily comes in just in time to help him. Lily has to intervene before he can do something really insane like stake one of them. He wonders if Valerie got to Stefan when Caroline’s supposed to be “the one” for him. Damon says he’s turning over a new leaf, doing right by Elena.
They fight a little, but ultimately Damon agrees that he’s on board to kill Julian whenever and wherever Stefan decides.
But the most interesting part of Julian’s introduction is the fact that both the Salvatores hate him so much that they are more than eager to get a piece of him.
Alaric brings Jo back to the house where Caroline tries to heal her with her blood.
But don’t expect a rush into the relationship the two have in the flash forward. I’m surprised that it doesn’t. She says she wants him to be able to clear away the drama and start clean. So what’s going on with Jo?
Caroline tells Bonnie that she sent Stefan to talk with Valerie.
In the moments leading up to Faux Jo’s death, she reveals that she remembers how she died and her name (Florence), and Alaric thanks her for allowing him to say goodbye.
Those were the major plot points, though there was the allusion to Julian looking for something or the other in the late Oscar’s auto, which I imagine will come into play sooner than later. The coven was trying to save the next generation of Gemini twins. Alaric’s babies are still alive. AND BOOM: we find out they were transferred to Caroline! Just then, the map is on fire. Bonnie demands that Alaric sees her immediately before she has to attend the dinner.

Alaric. Yes, that’s right. Alaric is Caroline’s fiance. If you’re anything like me, you’re still having problems wrapping your head around that.
