“The Vampire Diaries” season 8 kicks off on Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Speculations of the show ending continued to grow when Ian Somerhalder (playing Damon Salvatore) and Kat Graham (playing Bonnie) spoke about a farewell recently. When she left, she said, “I want to see this character to its end at the end of the show, so I can’t wait to come back and put her to bed again'”.
According to Just Jared, this does not mean that Scagliotti is leaving “Stitchers” now that she’s a part of “The Vampire Diaries” season 8 cast.
The news was first leaked on April 10 by Ian Somerhalder at Nashville’s Walker Stalker Con.
One of the creators, Williamson, also announced during the panel that he will be coming back as a writer for the eighth and final season of “The Vampire Diaries”.
The Vampire Diaries panel made what turned out to be its last appearance last Saturday at the Comic-Con.
Fear not, though, because they have already released the trailer for season eight to keep you going. After one of its lead stars, Nina Dobrev (who played Elena Gilbert), exited the show at the end of season 6, fans stood in anticipation of a possible cancellation or the airing of a final season.
“We are a family and I will miss you”, he continued. “It has been a magical, thrilling, life-changing experience”, executive producer Kevin Williamson said in a statement.
“Working with Julie and our incredible cast and crew has been one of the highlights of my career and life”, said Williamson, creator of the 1998-2003 WB teen drama “Dawson’s Creek” and author of the screenplays for the horror films “Scream”, “Scream 2” and “Scream 4”. “I am very happy that we can give Julie and Kevin [Williamson] the chance to finish their story the way they have envisioned, and to give viewers a fantastic conclusion to eight spectacular seasons”.
Talks about the end of “The Vampire Diaries” have been circulating even before the previous season ended.
