Fans of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 were surprised to see Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) return to Mystic Falls. Because, as with many a resurrection tale involving evil, when Oscar came back, he was decidedly not right.
The episode began as Alaric fumbled with a series of technical pieces on a circuitboard. He has a baby doll there too. Will Damon ever learn not to do things the hard way?
Now, Alaric sits looking at the Phoenix Stone when the morgue guy comes in. Thankfully, after Oscar was secured, the two were able to team up to corral Nora and force her hand to remove the curse Valerie had put on Caroline and the hooking up could recommence.
So, he rushed to the morgue, Oscar in tow, and suddenly, Bonnie had not one but two dead bodies to contend with.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!”
In the sneak peek teaser video that The CW Television Network uploaded to its YouTube channel, Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Caroline (Candice King) are seen bonding in their dorm. So let’s get to it! Bonnie fails about bringing Oscar back and Damon is getting frustrated. He doesn’t like that and leaves. She kills a student out of anger and storms off leaving Stefan and Caroline to clean up the mess. Valerie insists she has nothing to hide. During this spat, Nora and Mary Lou escape.
“This season, their mother is going to drive them apart”. They will be successful but Oscar wakes up more vicious anddangerous than he already was before dying. The girl kills herself.
There’s a ghost tour taking place at the border of Mystic Falls. I think Stefan is going to be prone to forgiveness and naivety, as opposed to Damon.
When Caroline was freed, she asked Stefan if he still has feelings for Valerie but Stefan said that things have changed. Lily questions Valerie as to why she led Stefan on and gives her one chance to tell her the truth. She finally gets the right one. Caroline mocks them and implies they can’t hang. Mary Louise leaves to finish their job. Bonnie is furious with Alaric for lying to her about destroying the stone. Of course, Caroline will dress up as an angel.
The bartender flirts with Mary Louise and Nora is annoyed.
And then there was Alaric and Bonnie, who spent their night working on waking up Jo. Oh and Valerie told this story to Caroline. Both apologize, with Mary-Louise explaining that being on their own, scorned, abused and imprisoned made her forget that the world is meant to be enjoyed, not feared. Lily wants to know why then she kept his journal all of these years. Stefan and Caroline have had enough obstacles in the way of their relationship that this feels clumsy and cheap in comparison.
He promises to talk Valerie as soon as Damon deals with Oscar. Damon is visited by Nora and Mary Louise who are badgering him. Oscar is confused. Oscar asks where he is and how he got there. She lives moment by moment.
“Elena’s gone, so there’s going to be a natural shift in the show”. She doesn’t like that realization and walks away.

As for what’s going on in the present, it’s basically blood, magic, death and a ball. Matt’s cop auto pulls up at the site of a wreck.

Stefan has Nora held captive and tells Mary Louise to break the spell. She summons the stake away, but Caroline runs up behind her and grabs her mouth. The ball may be over at that point, but it doesn’t stop them from sharing a dance. She tells her to have a taste. Mary Louise tells Nora she’s just desperate for attention. They start slow dancing. He says he knows. She asks what he wants. A flashback to 1863 showed Julian’s first appearance in the life of Lily because it was the time when she was about to leave for Europe. She smiles – she has an ally. He says he’s moving back to Mystic Falls. He thinks he needs to keep everyone safe. He says he wants one more thing. He wouldn’t open the bottle of wine until Katherine returned. He asks who is Damon without Elena. Lily looks at sleeping Oscar.
