Collins joined the show’s 19th season in July 2015 following a light trial run in which her brand of commentary and humor were well-received.

But after only one season on the daytime talk show, ABC executives have made the decision not to renew the comedian’s contract, according to Variety who broke the news on Friday. Her first public outcry against her cropped up as The View pushed its hosts to speak more on politics, for election talk was boosting the show’s sliding ratings.

The network commented about the news, telling Variety: “Michelle is smart, opinionated and amusing”.

The representative continued, ‘She’s been a great addition to the panel this year.

Collins has also been involved in several controversies during her time on The View. Even longtime former co-host of The View, Barbara Walters, vocalized her admiration for Collins’s witty style.

Michelle Collins will be leaving “The View” this summer. Variety sources say producers soured on her from the start.

Collins called it “hilarious” on-air, and then snapped back at critics on Twitter who slammed her comments, writing, “I mean, it’s a little amusing the hidden anger you nurses possess”. But The View Den Mother Whoopi Goldberg stood with Collins: “As a comic, she means “demented”. Within the previous year, the show has lost Barbara Walters to retirement, who were followed by Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy; Perez and Collins; Rosie O’ Donnell and Nicolle Wallace; and now, maybe even the remainder.

Whoopi, who’s four-year $5 million-a-year contract ended this year, has signed a new one-season deal with the Disney-owned network to return for $2.5 million, half of her previous salary.

Meanwhile, Candace Cameron-Bure is returning to the Full House reboot for Netflix, Fuller House, for season two and is unavailable for the first three months of the show.

In addition to the Michelle Collins’ non-renewed contract, moderator Whoopi Goldberg’s contract up in August.

The New York Daily News reported that the 40-year-old conservative Christian also hates commuting between New York City where the show is live and Los Angeles where her family still lives.
