The voice of the Star Trek Enterprise could be coming to Discovery

On September 8th 1966, the crew of the starship Enterprise first boldly went where no man has gone before.

Accolades for “Star Trek” are filling the internet on the 50th anniversary of the television show’s premiere back in 1966, and now the pope’s newspaper has joined the chorus of hosannas for one of the most popular franchises in entertainment history. The Like button is a little uninspired, with a few stars added behind the thumbs up.

Fifty years ago Thursday Gene Roddenberry’s visionary TV series “Star Trek” debuted on NBC. I suppose that since her hairstyle has changed for the reboot (unlike Kirk and Spock, who have relatively similar hairstyles), it would have been hard to render her in a miniaturized emoticon form that people would be guaranteed to recognize. It didn’t take long for Star Trek, through endless syndicated reruns which continue today, to become a belated smash hit.

The Star Trek salute isn’t the first time Facebook has temporarily altered its reactions based on a particular event.

If “Star Trek” has taught us anything it is that resistance is futile. Whereas “Star Trek: The Original Series” reflected the uncertainty, instability and violence of its time, West said, the Enterprise crew in “The Next Generation” “really seemed on a mission of peace and exploration, not about to conquer anything or promote war, not out to conquer other planets”. He played an alien in the latest movie “Star Trek Beyond”.

CBS is betting on Star Trek anchoring their new CBS All Access service next year.

For me, Star Trek has always been about great storytelling, great characters and, most of all, great fun. But more fans found “Trek” when it aired in syndication and multiple movies starring the original cast followed, as did new “Trek” series, including the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” series starring Patrick Stewart.
