‘The Walking Dead’ and a … crime procedural suggestion?

The then-would-be TV series adapting Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, still under the auspices of show creator Frank Darabont, received some crucial facetime with executives at NBC with whom the show initially had an overall deal.

In an interview with Pop Sugar, Michael Cudlitz opened up about the demise of Dr. Denise Cloyd (Merritt Wever). “Now we get to see what a world with Negan and Abraham both in it will be like”. He always said it was sort of a last-minute decision and that he regretted how he took him out. After all the top secrecy surrounding that finale, this information seems to have come out a little too easily. However, recent pictures captured by The Spoiling Dead Fans, saw a lot of extras in clothes that aren’t associated with either the Saviors or soldiers from the Kingdom.

Slip of the tongue, or crafty misdirection?

Back when current juggernaut property The Walking Dead was only just an indie comic book series about the seemingly generic premise of a zombie apocalypse, it’s understandable that pitches to networks about a TV adaptation would be met with different industry-minded ideas.

Mentioning that we’ll now be able to see what happens in “a world with Negan and Abraham both in it”, Cudlitz could have revealed a major spoiler – that he’s not the one killed by Negan in the cliffhanger ending to The Walking Dead season 6. Without zombies it wouldn’t be The Walking Dead, but apparently that’s what NBC was aiming for when it was thinking about picking up the show many years ago. Most fans have already narrowed down the most likely victims to Abraham or Glenn, with most leaning towrd Glenn as the most likely casualty.
