But on Sunday night, as Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) swung his bat upon his first victim in the show’s Season 7 premiere, the heavens opened up over Hollywood Forever Cemetery. We also went through emotions over thinking Glenn was dead last season, so this wasn’t the total shock it could have been.

As mentioned above, if you haven’t yet seen it, then seriously don’t read on…

Spoilers from the comics show that while Glenn’s death was devastating, Maggie will emerge stronger because of it. “It was sort of this unspoken, very loaded peace sign”, Cudlitz said. As one of the biggest shows of the moment, social media channels and Internet forums were abuzz with reaction videos and fan theories, though Entertainment Weekly has gone straight to the source, interviewing founding father Robert Kirkman and series showrunner Scott M. Gimple about their own thoughts on what transpired. There’s no safety in this show right now.

“We spread a rumor that the cast didn’t even know who was going to die, and that we shot the death of every character, and people were going through contract negations”, Cudlitz said.

The Walking Dead airs tonight at 9pm on FOX.

Were you surprised Glenn died on The Walking Dead?

Two more deaths – is anyone safe? “We still have a lot more to do”. Well, technically Rick’s lapse in judgement led to Abraham and Glenn’s death, but that’s a different rabbit hole we refuse to fall into. “It’s graphic and disgusting”. Those were all just warm-up episodes to the seventh season opener that stands out as one of the most memorable in a series that continues to give viewers moments that with an unwavering action grabs our attention and won’t let go. That cliffhanger made the episode start on an incredibly tense note, so by the time Rick was ready to hack off Carl’s arm, we not only believed that Rick would make a choice like that, but we felt the impossibility and cruelty behind the choice Negan forced him to make.

First off, after Negan bashed Glenn over the head with a baseball bat, we hear a bloodied Glenn say something that was partially inaudible. “We needed to find a way for him to say bye to her – that’s what the peace sign was”, Cudlitz explained. Some are going to come really dear to you, and some you are going to really, really, really love to hate. “But it wasn’t a conscious thing to make everyone think ‘Oh, they’re gonna cut Rick’s hand off'”.
