The Walking Dead “Thank You” Review (Season 6 Episode 3)
On a different show, perhaps Nicholas would have proved himself.

Tell Us: Do you think Glenn survived?
Glenn also let Nicholas have a gun, and this, too, was a mistake.
Did Glenn Use Nicholas To Help Him Survive?
Tonight’s AMC’s The Walking Dead new episode has a high bar to reach after last week’s thrilling episode where Alexandria came under attack with most of their best fighters not around to defend the community. Nicholas seems to know where they’re now located at, so he helps point out which way to proceed.
There is a theory I spotted on the Internet that suggests Glenn was hallucinating or dreaming about Nicholas’ death after watching him commit suicide and that we haven’t seen the last of him. But as he slumped to the ground, he pushed Glenn off the dumpster into the walkers. Glenn put his life in risk to deter the walkers. And was this your reaction to the scene as well? And if the story continues to play out the way it has, that could lead to a two-week wait – or longer – for the plot to turn its focus back on action outside of Alexandria, meaning the life of one of the most beloved members of Rick Grimes’s crew hangs in the balance until then… Unfortunately, his primo parking spot in the middle of the road put him in plain sight of the bad Wolves, who thought they might succeed at invading a Winnebago where they’d failed to take Alexandria. Instead, with a big chunk of the herd hot on their trail, Nicholas leads them down an alley, trapping them, with zombies closing in on all sides. So I’ll say this: “In a few way, we will see Glenn, a few version of Glenn or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story to help complete the story”. Still, Daryl chose to go. Early in, Rick splits up with the others; he tells Michonne and Glenn to keep everyone moving, and that they will lose a few people (by a few people, he means “Alexandrians”)-when they do, they should leave those people behind. There was the guy who accidentally shot someone in panic, the girl with the sprained ankle, the guy with the loved one back home, etc. Sturgis freaks out and runs away and just leaves everybody behind. Meanwhile, Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) calls Rick on his walkie-talkie to give him an update about the status of his part in the plan to divert the walkers away from Alexandria.
Michonne and Glenn encourage the others to keep moving ahead of the horde, but the others worry that they might not even be heading back to something. When Heath insists that he has encountered the world that Rick has during scouting runs, Michonne quickly counters. It seems running away and leaving your friends to die doesn’t come with many benefits.
There is also one other loose thread hanging…. did Rick get bit? Remember, literally no one alive saw him die. Is his time up, or is something else going on?
Annie takes one for the team when the herd of walkers grabs her after the group exits the pet store in town. Rick radioed for Glenn, but little does he know, his pal is already long gone. It looks like Glenn was trying to grab him. Maybe he was just so paralyzed that Nick’s limp body knocked him over. He tells them to keep going no matter what as majority won’t make it back. They don’t understand the sacrifices you have to make. “We have no choice, we’ve got to keep going forward”, Michonne told the group as the group freaked out. His sweet letter to his wife got trampled by the walkers as his body was torn and mashed against the metal by the horde of killers. While they make a break for it, Annie falls, and she tells them they have to leave her behind. Naturally, most of the Alexandrians in the group are terrified – especially after the whiny Barnes gets eaten – but Rick has a plan. Rick seems to have used up whatever goodwill he had left with the Alexandria residents. Michonne and Heath make it back to the Safe-Zone.
If you’re wondering how such a slow group of zombies can catch the survivors, it’s simple.
Danai Gurira does a attractive job with this episode, as Michonne really steps up as a leader and gets her people home. Before they can find an alternative place to set on fire, the zombies begin to surround them and the chances of getting out alive are very, very slim.
Nicholas’s dead body then falls on top of Glenn, knocking him off the dumpster the men were taking refuge on.
It’s here that Nicholas finally realizes that this is his punishment for all the people he allowed to die while protecting himself for the months he led supply missions outside Alexandria.
Nicholas, losing his ever-loving mind, decides there’s only one way out, says “Thank you” to Glenn, and shoots himself in the head. Glenn tips over like a bowling pin, then everything is screaming and violins and blood and guts. But what if it was all a big gotcha on viewers and doesnt actually mean Glenn is dead?
But here’s where I get insane and think that Glenn might not be dead. Michonne and the whole group follow them as the members driving their vehicles hear about Rick’s change in plans. Rick slices open his own hand in the process but ultimately gets away. Two of these Wolves attack Rick in the RV, but Rick manages to take them both out “Nebraska” style.
In the midst of setting up a new plan, the horn at Alexandria stops. He explains that he lost everything and had more or less given up when Aaron found him. Making matters worse, David gets bitten on the shoulder. It’s been a while since he’s looked this downtrodden after the RV won’t start, and it feels like he’s getting close to having visits from Lori again. The undead start emerging from behind the trees and Rick is trapped inside with nowhere to go and no way to get there.
