“Transparent” was a powerhouse at the Emmys, taking home Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series; however, the most talked-about moments surrounding these awards were the acceptance speeches made by both director Jill Soloway and actor Jeffrey Tambor.

Then Maggie Smith won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, beating out the three Game of Thrones actresses Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, and Maisie Williams.
The award went to Dame Maggie Smith, for her performance as the Dowager Countess Violet Crawley in the final series of Downton Abbey.
Later in the show, the three-time Emmy-winning actress was announced as the victor for her role as Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham in Downton Abbey.
He added, “This year she had a Sunday ceramics class she couldn’t get out of”.
The figures come as big awards shows, long thought of as among the last must-watch bastions in the live television ecosystem, experience ratings drops. Well, I don’t see her. “Our show started out as a political satire but it now feels more like a sobering documentary”.
As it did in 2015, HBO led the platforms in the winners’ circle, with 22 wins, followed by FX Networks with 18.
