But they’ve got a few stiff competition!

Canadian R&B newcomer The Weeknd is in the running for five awards, as is British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Sam Hunt, Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor and Walk the Moon had three nominations each. She was also nominated for collaboration of the year for “Bad Blood”, and her album 1989 is up alongside Sheeran’s X and Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour. Minaj received four nominations, going up against her old friend Drake in the Favorite Artist-Rap/Hip Hop category.

The nominees for Song Of The Year include Wiz Khalifa Featuring Charlie Puth See You Again, Mark Ronson Featuring Bruno Mars Uptown Funk!, Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, Swift’s Blank Space and The Weeknd Can’t Feel My Face.

The AMAs, which were created by Dick Clark in 1973, base the nominations on “key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring”, according to a statement. Jennifer Lopez will be the hostess for the live broadcast of the show on November 22 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The field will be narrowed to five nominees predicated on fan voting.
