The White House just released President Obama’s vacation playlists on Spotify
Obama took to Twitter ahead of his summer vacation to Martha’s Vineyard to give his followers an insight into the song’s he’ll be relaxing to. Now we’re not sure how many of these songs were actually picked out by President Obama, or if he approved them. A spokesperson for the streaming service said: “Today we are very excited to welcome U.S. President Barack Obama and The White House to Spotify”.

The White House recently launched their own Spotify channel, and the first two playlists were compiled by none other than the Commander in Chief.

The two playlists – day and night music – feature 90 minutes of tunes and 20 songs.

And, in one artist who was not a surprise, Obama chose a track by Al Green – “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart”.

Summary: He’s big on the classics, including the Bobs (Dylan and Marley) as well as both the Rolling Stones and Sly and the Family Stone. “Stubborn Love” by The Lumineers makes an appearance as does “Red & White & Blue & Gold“, from Aoife O’Donovan’s debut album “Fossils”. “I’ve Got Dreams to Remember” – Otis Redding 13. That’s a different mission than crafting a song list for campaign stops, but he’s raised the overall political mixtape ante, compared to the nearly universally daft efforts of the past.
