The World Series Game 1 game thread

Franchise History: This World Series features two expansion teams for the first time in Fall Classic history as the Mets came in 1962 and Royals 1969.

Last season’s NL Rookie of the Year, the shaggy-haired deGrom has a well-documented story by now: He was a college shortstop and third baseman at Stetson before moving to the mound his junior year and catching the eye of scouts when he pitched against Florida Gulf Coast and first-round draft pick Chris Sale, now an All-Star ace with the Chicago White Sox.

The Mets and Royals will send out Matt Harvey and Edinson Volquez, respectively, to try to silence the bats of their opposition.

There’s more on the entire World Series in the preview I posted a few hours ago.

Just after 9:30, the game cut out for a second time. Personal kudos from me will go to the first national reporter who has Kansas City BBQ during the World Series and does not feel compelled to write (or tweet) about it.

Series Prediction – I don’t foresee this series going 4-5 games, both teams just seem to good to sweep the other. Game 7*: While Syndergaard and Ventura are scheduled to start as we know game seven is all hands on deck to get that commissioners trophy. Let meet the Mets: Daniel Murphy has been doing his Barry Bonds impersonation so far, or, for Royals fans, his Carlos Beltran.

The game will show how experience plays a part in the series.

With the ball hugging the wall, Escobar raced around the bases for a home run that gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead before most fans had taken a seat.

“To find a way to grind that way out against a great team… and to win it in the 14th inning was big”.

Jacob deGrom will pitch Game 2 for the Mets.

FOX took to Twitter to apologize for the difficulties and say they are “working on fixing the issue ASAP”. Road games will see Goldberg and Hudler live from the KCP&L while Montgomery/Lefebvre wiil be live from Toronto.

A video of Stonestreet cheering on the team has been played at Royals games to pump fans up.
