The Wrasslin’ Essay: The Rumble & The Title
The bout has become one of the biggest on the WWE calendar, taking place each January and effectively kicking off the heavily-hyped “Road To WrestleMania”. The Rock defends his cousin, Reigns, who winds up in a title match with either Lesnar re Triple H, the other one faces The Great One in the co-main event.

Sometimes, the performers fans wish to see do well can be treated shabbily in the Royal Rumble, something which comes to light in this article. Roman Reigns will be the next subject in a series of “Royal Rumble Résumé” articles (including Brock Lesnar, John Cena, The Rock, The Undertaker, Randy Orton, Triple H and The Big Show) in which we take a look at some of the biggest names in WWE, how they have fared at the Rumble in the past, and make predictions for how they will do this year.
Brock Lesnar returns tonight on Chris Jericho’s “The Highlight Reel” and you can bet Roman Reigns will be watching close by.
Unless WWE pulls a huge swerve and Reigns somehow doesn’t end up as one of the final participants in this year’s Royal Rumble Match, he stands to make himself the biggest Rumble Match threat in the company. Right now, there isn’t enough star power on the roster for the Rumble Match to draw any excitement from the crowd. It’s time for Vince McMahon and WWE officials to listen to the fans and make something happen. The thought back then was that Reigns and Rollins would have a double turn and Reigns would take the title. Not only are they two of the most visible and well-known members of NJPW’s internationally massive Bullet Club faction, but they are good friends with NXT standout Finn Balor, and on top of that, Gallows actually used to compete in WWE as both Festus and Luke Gallows, all of which serves to throw fire on the fuel of their rumored signings. Furthermore, Rollins was the most ideal possible heel to pass the World Championship to Roman Reigns. But WWE has a long history of using real-world stories to fuel their narratives – in fact, that’s exactly what led to Bryan’s biggest moment at WrestleMania 30. He would be in line with two of the WWE’s biggest stars, Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin.

The one thing I do not like is the constant appearance of Charlotte’s father, Ric Flair. On the other hand, however, if the WWE continues their recent trend of underwhelming Rumble finishes and unsatisfying title runs, they could be devaluing their assets at a rate from which they cannot recover.
