Fans reading IDW’s “The X-Files: Season Ten” comic books may not be quite so surprised that reports of the Gunmen’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. The threesome proved to be so popular that they earned a short-lived spinoff series before apparently dying in the X-Files’ ninth season.
Haglund will be joined by Bruce Harwood as John Fitzgerald Byers and Tom Braidwood as Melvin Frohike, who were introduced in Season 1 as counterculture patriots and friends of Mulder before securing recurring roles on the long-running series. Whether or not that specific twist to the continuity will tie in any way to the new series, however, remains to be seen. How they’ll be brought back for the revival, whether in flashbacks or a reveal that they survived their apparent deaths, has not been said, but Haglund promises more details are forthcoming.
The X-Files hits FOX on January 24, 2016. The Lone Gunmen will feature in The X-Files revival!!!
