There IS a God: Tim Tebow Signs Baseball Deal
The Mets’ decision to bring Tebowmania to their organization may seem like a publicity stunt to some, but Jets receiver Eric Decker believes it’s nothing like that to Tim Tebow. On a baseball field?

Former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy victor Tim Tebow traded a football for a baseball by signing a minor league contract with the New York Mets on Thursday (Sept. 8), the team announced in a news release. He briefly played for the Denver Broncos and New York Jets from 2010 to 2012 and signed with several other teams, but he hasn’t played in a game since 2012.
Tebow, a high school baseball player, did a tryout for MLB teams.
Tebow was one of the greatest quarterbacks in NCAA history, albeit as more of a dual-threat run-and-pass signal-caller instead of a traditional drop-back passer.
It just might work: #tim tebow transitioning from football to #Baseball and possibly becoming a star in the majors by the time he hits his early 30s.
Tim Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, who spent parts of five seasons trying to earn a fulltime job as an National Football League signal-caller, has recently turned his attention to baseball. Tebow, who said he loved the game of baseball and began working out in 2015 until the Philadelphia Eagles called, won’t wait that long.
Tebow’s commitment to baseball did come under immediate scrutiny, however, when he confirmed he would be missing various days of the three-week instructional camp in Port. St. Lucie, Fla., to continue his TV broadcasting work with the SEC Network and ESPN.
An even better fit would be to have Tebow cut his teeth at the professional level here in Brooklyn, where the fans, as well as the media, are about as big league as you can get at the short-season level.
I get it: The chances of Tebow ever making it to the majors are roughly equivalent to that of Jose Bautista and Rougned Odor becoming Facebook friends. Last month, the Connecticut-based Bridgeport Bluefish minor league baseball team offered the former NFL player a contract to play for the team during the 2016 season.
Could Tebow possibly block a young outfielder in the Mets’ system?
That is it, plain and simple, and no matter if this lasts six months, a year, or five years, the Mets will view it as a success, no matter if Tebow never puts on a big-league uniform.
