There is no reason to resign: United coach van Gaal
David Moyes thinks Manchester United should stand by Louis van Gaal and claims the club would be setting a risky precedent if they sacked the Dutchman.

United may be ending the year on a low point, but after guiding the club to fourth last season and adding more “balance” to the squad in the summer, Van Gaal believes the team has moved forward over the last 12 months.
He said: “I think performances throughout the season have quite simply not been good enough, especially the past four or five weeks”.
Some United supporters have booed their team off and implored them to attack during matches after becoming annoyed at the ponderous, possession-based style often on display at Old Trafford.
“I’m not saying he was responsible for tactics but this was not a typical Louis van Gaal performance from Manchester United”.
We created some magnificent chances and for everyone in the crowd I think it was a lovely game. And although Van Gaal saw some encouraging signs in the goal-less draw against Chelsea he admits the they’re big problem remains a lack of goals.
“They applauded the players… and they were enthusiastic”, he said.
Leicester’s surprising title challenge was supposed to falter in a six-game run that included matches against Chelsea, Man City, Man United, Liverpool and Everton. Goals are the most important thing because then you can continue in your mind, your mental state. “You’ve got to remember (former chief executive) David Gill left (at the same time as Ferguson), he was a big influence at Manchester United”.
The availability of high-profile managers Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, who will leave German champions Bayern Munich at the end of the season, is reportedly a factor in the thinking of the Old Trafford hierarchy over whether a change is necessary.
“To say we’re not playing for the manager is silly”, the United centre-back said.
“But still we need to win because we want to be at the top of the league and not in the middle”.
“We have to work, prepare the game, perform and then evaluate the game again”. Yet the Welsh club has won its last three games against United, all 2-1, including a home-and-away league double last season.

“There is no magic, it is looking at what has happened and what can improve, as a team but also as an individual player”.
