‘There’ll never be a ‘Friends’ reunion movie’
The co-creator of Friends Marta Kauffman has quashed all hope that there will be a proper Friends reunion episode any time soon. After all, the cast reunion for the James Burrows NBC special is a good excuse to execute this since the show’s final season was 12 years ago, wasn’t it?

“At least there’s still the so-called “‘Friends’ reunion”.
While dismissing a potential “Nine to Five” reunion in the form of a Dolly Parton appearance with stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin on the Netflix series “Grace & Frankie”, Kauffman also shot down a reunion for “Friends“, another show she produced.
She said: ‘Friends was about the time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there’s no need any more’.
It’s not yet been confirmed whether or not all six of the cast members will appear on screen at the same time – scheduling conflicts may not allow for it – but NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt stated at the TCA Winter Press Tour: “I’m hoping all six will be in the same room at the same time”.
And in April a year ago, she explained to The Wrap why it’s “never gonna happen”.
Kauffman’s not alone. It sounds as if the actors themselves aren’t even that keen for a reunion.
“Friends was about a finite period of time in your life, like after college and before your life really gets started”, he said, “Nobody wants to see Joey at his prostate exam”.
“It would be bad to do something and have it not be good”.
“It doesn’t make sense to me”.
“I wish I could say it was going to be a reunion”.
