Theresa May shakes up United Kingdom govt to prepare for Brexit
Cameron also made a reference to his successor, United Kingdom home secretary Theresa May, in his final speech, saying he wished her well and was proud that for the “second time in British history” the Prime Minister will be a woman and “once again a Conservative” in reference to Margaret Thatcher as the first female PM of Britain.

In her first address to the nation, May instantly distanced herself from former Prime Minister David Cameron’s government by declaring she would not “entrench the advantages of the fortunate few”, The Telegraph said.
“I am delighted that in her first speech as Prime Minister, Theresa May placed such a big emphasis on social justice and social mobility”.
This will not only give her actions on Brexit legitimacy in the eyes of Leave supporters, but also ensures she has on side a man who emphasised his pro-globalisation and pro-immigration stance, despite wanting out.
May is expected to make more appointments Thursday after a raft of senior positions were announced in the hours after she formally accepted the task of forming a new government following a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II.
David Davis outlined his vision for Britain’s departure from the European Union on Monday before Andrea Leadsom had stepped down as a leadership candidate and he was formally appointed to government. Frankfurt’s DAX 30 rallied to its highest point since the Brexit vote.
Putting crucial worldwide portfolios firmly in the hands of Brexit supporters was perhaps an astute move for Mrs May, who had argued for Britain to remain in the European Union.
Even so, Mr Johnson’s elevation to such a prestigious post represents a remarkable change of fortunes in a career that has had its share of them.
Hammond acknowledged that investment in Britain had been shaken since the referendum result.
Speaking of her predecessor Mrs May said Mr Cameron’s leadership of the government stabilised the economy, reduced the budget deficit and helped more people into work “than ever before”.
Among major European negotiations since the early 1950s, only 1958’s Treaty of Rome took less than 24 months, according to Morgan Stanley. Let’s see how well they get on.
May, 59, campaigned for the leadership of the governing centre-right Conservative Party as a safe pair of hands, after spending six years as home secretary, one of the toughest jobs in British politics.
Davis’s new department will draw on staff from across several government departments, taking responsibility for negotiations with other European Union states and setting the policy priorities for Britain’s future European Union ties. But it said it was likely to deliver a stimulus in three weeks’ time to support the economy, once it has assessed the fallout from the June 23 vote.
Davis worked in the Foreign Office from 1994 to 1997, with responsibility for negotiations with Europe, where he picked up the nicknames “charming bastard” and “monsieur non” (Mr. No).
Writing on the ConservativeHome website just before being appointed to his new role, Mr Davis said: “We need to take a brisk but measured approach to Brexit”.
The Financial Times in London has described May as a liberal conservative and compared her to Germany’s Angela Merkel.
He said Britain was quitting the European Union but “that does not mean in any sense leaving Europe”.
Britain now needs to create “a new inter-governmental relationship that is superior to the existing system”, he said.
Among other appointments, rising star Amber Rudd switched from the energy ministry to take May’s old job as Home Secretary.
After filling half-a-dozen of the top jobs Wednesday, Ms May made new appointments on Thursday, including justice secretary Liz Truss and education secretary Justine Greening.

Ms Justine Greening, formerly in charge of global development, is now Education Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities.
