Theresa May vows to be ‘one nation’ prime minister
Mr Johnson was a leading figure in the victorious Leave campaign but his role in Britain’s negotiations over its future relationship with the European Union is likely to be limited because Mrs May is expected to create a new ministerial post focused on Brexit.

May herself had sided with Cameron in trying to keep Britain inside the European Union, so needed to reach out to the winning Leave side in order to heal divisions in the ruling party and show her commitment to respecting the popular vote.
Lesser-known than Johnson but at least as important to Britain’s future is 67-year-old David Davis, the new Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union. Many people believed Mr. Johnson would replace Mr. Cameron, but he surprisingly dropped out.
Rudd, who succeeds May in charge of the Home Office, became a lawmaker in 2010 and served as parliamentary private secretary to former finance minister Osborne from 2012 to 2013 before joining the department for energy and climate change where she was promoted to minister in 2015.
Theresa May is the second female Prime Minister to cross the threshold of 10 Downing Street, after Margaret Thatcher.
Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster said he is delighted by the appointment of May as Britain’s new prime minister because of the commitment she has shown in the fight against human trafficking.
Scotland bucked the national trend for the referendum, with 62% voting to remain.
In her first address as Prime Minister, May said that the mission of her government is to forge a positive role for United Kingdom in the world as it leaves the European Union.
“But the mission to make Britain a country that works for everyone means more than fighting these injustices”.
May, who backed remaining in the European Union, will also be expected to reward prominent campaigners for a “leave” vote with key jobs.
May’s appointment, after a brief leadership contest in the governing Conservative party, brings some stability after a period of political disarray, which has also sparked a leadership challenge in the opposition Labour party.
Investors will be watching May’s first days in office closely.
Hammond said Thursday that there will be no emergency budget to deal with the economic fallout from Brexit.
She also promised to preside over an economy that benefits everyone. May had served Cameron as home secretary throughout his six years in government.
The daughter of a Church of England pastor, she is cricket fan with a sober demeanour who lists her hobbies as cooking and walking. Michael Fallon, an early backer of Mrs May for the Tory leadership, remained as Defence Secretary. Surrounded by his wife and their three children, Cameron offered an assessment of his tenure, saying he left the country stronger and better off.
“I know from the work we have done together that you have so many qualities to bring to the service of our countries at this time”, he wrote. Cameron had stated his plans to resign after the country voted against his recommendations, but it wasn’t initially apparent how soon he would depart.

Yet his legacy will be overshadowed by his failed referendum gamble, which he had hoped would keep Britain at the heart of a reformed EU. “I look forward to working closely with you on this and to learn about your intentions in this regard”, he said in a letter to May.
