Theresa May wants Britain to be ‘global leader in free trade’
Downing Street said New Zealand and Canada are among other countries to have also offered the British government expertise, adding that it reflected support from countries around the world to make a success of Brexit.

Number 10 sought to play down Mr Obama’s comments about the focus on multinational trade deals.
May stressed that Britain was “open for business” and wanted to promote free trade but also argued world leaders must be mindful of concerns about globalisation leaving some people behind while others flourish.
Britons had been warned by Japanese companies as well as Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister, that investment could suffer if the United Kingdom voted to leave the EU.
He said the USA would work with Mrs May on the process: “We will consult and co-ordinate with her as she and her government move forward with the Brexit negotiations to ensure that we don’t see any adverse effects in trading and commercial relationships between the United States and the United Kingdom”.
(Johnson has said that his “policy on cake is pro having it and pro eating it.”) But there is no sign yet that the European Union will breach its principles by allowing Britain full market access without the usual quid pro quos on issues like freedom of movement.
Part of that was cracking down on multinational tax avoidance.
People who thought there would be a quick trade deal with the United States after Brexit are likely to be in for a huge disappointment.
Britain is ideally seeking tariff-free access to the European Union’s single market combined with curbs on immigration, the minister in charge of negotiating the country’s exit from the bloc said on Thursday.
“I will be talking about how Britain will be seizing those opportunities”.
In a press conference at the G20 Summit in China, standing alongside Mrs.
The prime minister said the economy was in better shape than some had predicted following the vote for Brexit.
“We have a lot of investment, including British companies in the United States and U.S. companies in the United Kingdon”.
With the UK seeking a new role on the world stage following the Brexit vote, the decision on Hinkley Point has major diplomatic implications for relations between the UK, France and China. That is not going to stop.
Both Obama and May said they would try to minimise the impact of Brexit, stressed the closeness of their relations and expressed a desire to strengthen those ties wherever possible. I’m not going to be taking the nuclear decision now.
On the possibility that Brexit might prompt a second Scottish referendum to leave the UK, May explained, “I don’t think there is a question of whether there could be a second Scottish referendum, it is a question of whether there should be a second referendum”.
“It will not simply endure, but it will continue to grow stronger with time. We have a thriving economic relationship”.

As debate rages over how much weight to put on reports showing some resilience since the June 23 referendum, the Confederation of British Industry pointed to weaker sentiment and investment intentions as omens of slower future expansion.
