These grandmothers in Texas have had enough of gun violence

This weekend, K-12 students, parents, teachers, and celebrities will gather in Washington, D.C. and other cities for the national March for Our Lives, calling for action on school gun violence.

Organizers call it the “March For Our Lives”, born out of the tragic shooting in Florida that left 17 dead at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School. “But then when I pull out a gun, I’m basically saying I’m about to kill you”.

On Friday morning, numerous Parkland survivors arrived at the Capitol, where gun control efforts have fizzled for years, even as the list of mass shootings grows longer.

19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, a former student, claimed responsibility for the shooting in the Florida school and was expelled from the school for disciplinary reasons.

Students and Americans showed up by the hundreds to take part in the Vancouver march, holding signs critical of the US National Rifle Association and lawmakers.
