Walking near the ballfields south of Sheep’s Meadow, a relaxed Commander-in-Chief waved to onlookers as he chatted with his family, including his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng (they have the same mother) and his brother-in-law Konrad Ng.

Later Saturday, the president and his daughters ate lunch at Upland, a Stephen Starr restaurant in Gramercy Park, before attending a matinee performance of the hip-hop musical Hamilton at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theater.
But before the fun could begin, Obama attended a big-bucks fund-raiser Friday night for the Democratic National Committee, hosted by supporters George and Nitzia Logothetis, that was slated to bring in $1 million. On Friday, Sasha, 14, boarded Air Force One with Obama for the weekend getaway, along with two of her friends.
Then, with the politics out of the way, the rest of Obama’s New York overnighter was set aside for time with his teenage daughters, Malia and Sasha.
The Obamas had lingered past 11 p.m. over dinner at an Italian place in Greenwich Village on Friday and took an after-hours tour of the Whitney Museum that lasted until midnight. Malia, 17, is interning this summer on the Brooklyn set of HBO’s “Girls“.
Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Obama was looking forward to the “rare opportunity” to spend a little personal time with his daughters, Malia and Sasha.
This is not the ideal environment for father-daughter bonding.
Malia was there to meet them in New York.
