The Austria global has been linked to the Premier League giants, who will be led by Bayern coach Pep Guardiola from next season, despite being contracted until mid-2018.

‘There are always a lot of rumours. “It’s a fact that Guardiola is joining Manchester City and we have to respect that”, said Thiago. “I don’t claim to know that it’s Pep’s training methods or the fallout that has happened between Pep and the club doctor, although there is clearly tension between [Hans-Wilhelm] Müller-Wohlfahrt and Pep about the way in which Javi Martinez and Thiago built back from their repetitive and damaging injuries”.

“My contract still runs until 2018, at the moment I am concentrated on my performance on the pitch”. I extended my contract for a reason. “Manchester United has been such an important part of my life and I have so many wonderful memories of this Theatre of Dreams”.

Thiago’s clubmate Arjen Robben recently made similar comments, confirming to Dutch newspaper Metro that Guardiola has not approached him to follow him to Manchester anyway.

“No, he didn’t ask me to join him on his way to Manchester City”.

“I think Guardiola could be the one that helps us win the Champions League, to really give us that glamour status”.
