Thibaut Courtois reacts to Chelsea’s sacking of Jose Mourinho

Chairman Bruce Buck used his programme notes to reveal the Russian had “anguished” over the decision to axe the Special One before finally pulling the trigger.
“Our thoughts are with the manager, because we’re disappointed that it falls on his head unfortunately”, the Blues skipper told Sky Sports.
Courtois, who recently returned from knee surgery, was pleased with the win and wants to leave their alarming start to the season in the past. That’s me speaking honestly.
“All of us are in this position, it is not one or two individuals, we are in this position because one or two have performed and the rest haven’t unfortunately – but that is behind us now”.
He also helped Chelsea reach the Champions League semi-finals, losing narrowly to Barcelona, and has the chance to surpass that when the competition resumes in February with Chelsea through to the last 16 against Paris St Germain.
“We have to kind of stand up to that and be counted”, he continued.
“The first half they played well in general”.
Jose Mourinho was axed after defeat to Leicester City on Monday, and while he has been replaced by Dutch coach Guus Hiddink until the season’s end, Holland stepped in to oversee Saturday’s triumph.
“I can understand the frustration of the fans”.
“We would like to get him involved”, Hiddink replied when asked about bringing in Drogba as an assistant. “He will not be attending any high-profile games because he wants to discourage any speculation about his future”, it continued.

Chelsea’s victory was watched by Hiddink, who sat alongside former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and club owner Roman Abramovich. “So it was a very important win”. He isn’t exhausted, he doesn’t need it. He is very positive and is already looking forward.
