The setup is easy to get comfortable with.
Some fans will understandably take issue with the treatment of the female characters, but if you can go into the film knowing that it really is a movie about the two Ant-Men (no matter what the promotional material indicates), I think you’ll find that aspect easier to accept. They are priced at $15.99 each, or $46.99 for the Sideshow Exclusive set of 3.
After all, this is a movie about a superhero whose “powers are a little absurd”, which “suggests a more comedic treatment to it”, said Reed. It’s all familiar so just roll with it.

The director of Ant-Man, Peyton Reed, took over the helm when the original director and script co-writer, Edgar Wright, left due to reported “creative differences”. Peña is a hoot as he literally steals one scene after another. Pathos, depth and poignancy don’t exist here and that is fine. Check. Don’t forget an omnipresent voice (Michael Douglas, in full sensei mode) to guide our hero like Jarvis. “And the rest of the stuff is extra, you can’t let it weigh you down”.
The ant may be small but the rewards are more than appropriate. This is gravy – not a steak. It does, however, feature stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas and, very quickly, things get weird. “As long as I am alive”, he says, “nobody will ever get the formula!” Without Rudd, this movie just wouldn’t work.
He’s an underachiever: Even though he was a founding member of the mighty Avengers, Ant-Man generated insect-size sales for Marvel Comics.
