Things to Know from Falcons’ Week 1 Loss
The Bucs scored 21 unanswered points on three touchdown passes from Jameis Winston.

Tampa Bay second-year quarterback Jameis Winston is now 3-0 against the Falcons. The other one just happened to be another Jameis Winston special, as he directed TD drives of 75, 85, 80 and 80 in a 45-17 win at Philadelphia previous year on November 22 (he threw in a ho-hum 59-yard TD drive in that game for good measure). He caught his first touchdown with 11 seconds left in the first quarter, a short five-yard pass from Matt Ryan. If you’ve watched Winston practice or play the past several years, it’s actually pretty common for him to put too much on his early throws. “At this point, it’s just third downs and red zone, we’ve got to be good there offensively and we weren’t there today”.
About Kyle Shanahan: Some of his little tricks come up trumps – two of them yielded the Falcons’ first touchdown, which was gifted by an interception on Winston’s one bad throw of the day – but then he tries them again and guess what?
Ryan threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Julio Jones late in the third quarter and connected with Mohamad Sanu for a two-point conversion.
The most concerning thing regarding the Falcons offense was the poor performance of the run game, as well as the sub-par showing by the offensive line, especially 2014 6th overall pick Jake Matthews.
Humphries isn’t anxious. Neither is receiver Mike Evans, whom Winston missed in the end zone on the next play. The play started like a simple pitch-and-catch call, as Sims hauled in the pass with nobody around him at the first down marker. Tampa Bay stays on the road next week to face the Arizona Cardinals. Winston was impressed with the play by Sims. I’m not to sure if there is a way to entirely shut down the connection between Amari Cooper and Derek Carr, but the Falcons can do a few things to help contain it.
Julio Jones caught 4-of-8 targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons’ Week 1 loss to Tampa Bay.
Kwon Alexander: 17 tackles, 1 sack.
Sunday, they play the Raiders in Oakland’s home opener (the Raiders came back from a 24-10 deficit to beat the Saints in New Orleans this week). On the ground, Terron Ward rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns in 22 attempts while Simms added 25 yards in six rushes.
Tampa Bay held Atlanta to only 52 yards rushing, including 20 yards on 11 carries by Devonta Freeman. “He really shows a lot of poise for such a young player”. He set up a field goal with a 59-yard grab and hauled in a 5-yard TD pass, finishing with five receptions for 80 yards.
“He was a good offensive coordinator and he’s a good coach”.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy warms up with a 9/11 remembrance shirt on before the first half of an NFL football game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sunday, Sept. “Don’t be afraid to check it down, ‘” Koetter said.
Winston said to expect more big plays from the tight end.

INJURY REPORT: Tampa Bay backup linebacker Jacquies Smith was carted to the locker room with a right knee injury and didn’t return. He was hurt covering a punt in the first quarter.
