Things To Know: Judge Trump slammed as ‘Mexican’ born in US
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is taking heat from all sides for what are widely viewed as racist comments towards federal judge Gonzalo Curiel, an ex-prosecutor who was born in IN and is overseeing litigation of a Trump University fraud case. Trump has campaigned on a pledge to build a wall along the US border with Mexico. That’s why I find Donald Trump’s belief that an American-born judge of Mexican descent is incapable of fairly presiding over his case is not only dead wrong, it is un-American.

“It is unfortunate that my comments have been misconstrued as a categorical attack against people of Mexican heritage”. Ryan disavowed Trump’s comments, calling them “unacceptable”.
“No, I’m not – I’m saying that the comment was”, Ryan said on Fox News Radio, when asked whether he was saying Trump himself was racist. If that happens, I’m not sure how un-endorsing Trump will save his Senate seat.
He said he would not support presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, either, and would instead “write in General Petraeus”.
Kirk is running far behind in his race with the Democratic challenger, Representative Tammy Duckworth, and is considered the most vulnerable Republican senator in the 2016 election cycle.
Sen. Roy Blunt, who faces reelection in Missouri, said, “I don’t agree with the comments” about Curiel.
Johnson, an 18-year state legislator from Ocheyedan, was referring to the billionaire’s allegation that U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel was biased in his decision against the now-defunct Trump University, a business owned by Trump, because he disagrees with Trump’s position on immigration.
“We don’t need racism or statements like that in the Oval Office”, said state Sen.
“The comments like the comments Trump made about the judge make it very hard for me”.
Trump said his attorneys have continually demonstrated that students who participated in Trump University were provided a substantive, valuable education based upon a curriculum developed by professors from Northwestern University, Columbia Business School, Stanford University and other respected institutions.
Sen. Rob Portman of OH, another endangered Republican in a tough Senate race, has said that Trump will help him turn out voters in Ohio.
Several Republican leaders have condemned Trump’s comments.

“I will continue to disagree with him when he makes statements like he did about the judge”, Ayotte said, while noting she planned to vote for him in the fall. He even doubled down earlier this week by suggesting that a Muslim would not be fit to preside over the case either (presumably because of the candidate’s previous offensive comments about Muslims). Does Trump not know the difference? “When you’re in a political party, you gotta support your nominee until it’s apparent that a guy like Donald Trump being president is just bad for the country and he shouldn’t be supported”.
