Suvarna, another global para-athlete, said, “We have requested the government that today is the opening ceremony, we might miss it but at least we can see some of the matches of our athletes”.
Organizers are hoping to overtake the 2.4 million tickets sold at the Beijing 2008 Games.

The Russian athletes couldn’t take part in the Paralympic Games due to the temporary suspension of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) caused by the WADA’s Independent Commission Report on state support of the use of performance-enhancing drugs in the country.
