This could be how you look in No Man’s Sky!

Since No Man’s Sky officially released on the PC last Friday, data miners have had plenty of time to start fiddling around with the game’s files – especially since the game experienced issues at launch.

There’s been some speculation that this might be No Man’s Sky’s player character; Hello Games has deliberately made it impossible for players to ever see their own avatar, keeping their species and other details mysterious.

NeoGAF-er Hugo Peters has been doing just that, finding all manner of things in the file structure including data from old E3 demos and mentions of previous potential formats like the PS3 and Xbox 360, an indication of how long the game has been in development. While a lot of questions remain about the universe in which the game is set though, there is one that is puzzling people the most: what are you?

This, of course, could purely be a case of the developer licensing Havoc for the three platforms early in development as a way to cover all of its bases prior to finalizing release platforms. As Videogamer notes, however, none of No Man’s Sky’s promotional materials so much as allude to the game being a PlayStation exclusive.

No Man’s Sky players are looking forward to free updates to flesh the game out but talking to the Daily Star Sean Murray has hinted that paid DLC could happen. Murray then added that he had to be “very specific with” his words.

Hopefully a hypothetical Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky will perform more like its PS4 counterpart, and not the PC version now experiencing technical issues. You can find out screenshots of some of these assets below.
