This Dark Souls 3

Players know From Software and director Hidetaka Miyazaki for two series, basically: the relentlessly brutal Dark Souls series, and the mechanized action of Armored Core.

The famed director also reiterated that the upcoming DLC for Dark Souls 3 is very much a full stop for the series, however. We asked him directly if the two DLC packs from the latest game will mark the conclusion of the series as a whole, and he responded with an immediate, no-hesitation “Yes”, before laughing.

This dark fantasy game definitely sounds like another Souls game, even though Miyazaki stated several times that Dark Souls 3 is the final game of the series.

Earlier this year, From had confirmed they were working on a new IP, as well as a VR-compatible game slated for 2017. There could be someone else in my company who wants to work on new installments.

He went on to say that he’s backing away from the Dark Souls franchise because he thinks there is nothing more he can add to it.

When pressed if the mech game was an Armored Core title, Miyazaki bluntly replied, “Yeah, we’re already working on Armored Core”. Today, we have some new gameplay showcasing some of that new content.

So, it sounds like Dark Souls will be finished when its second DLC launches sometime next year.
