This day in history: Nintendo releases the NES
So imagine my surprise, and delight, this morning at Nintendo’s announcement of the Mini-NES.

“And whether it’s rediscovering an old favourite or experiencing the joy of NES for the first time, the fantastic collection of NES classics included with each and every system should have something for all players”. United States buyers are reportedly getting an AC adapter, which is something that British purchasers aren’t expected to receive with their Nintendo Classic Mini.
“The new NES Classic Controller has a different connector than the original NES controllers and accessories, so they are not interchangeable”.
Nintendo has been hogging up all the attention lately thanks to the uber success of Pokemon Go but for the select few who still can’t get enough of classic Nintendo games like Super Mario Bros and Metroid, Nintendo has some good news for you.
The Japanese tech giant has confirmed it will be launching a new version of the Nintendo Entertainment System – commonly referred to as the NES – in a miniature, modern form. “The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers”.
Gamers will receive a HDMI cable, a USB cable for powering the system, and one Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller when buying the newly launched console. I’m just gutted Duck Hunt didn’t make the list! Players can collect an extra classic control pad for two player game sessions for just $9.99.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link™. A Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro can also be used (each sold separately). Players won’t be able to download other NES games and to play them on the mini console. And if you ever need to step away from the NES Classic Edition in the middle of a tough level (or take a break to call one of Nintendo’s helpful Game Counselors*), don’t worry about losing any hard-earned progress.
