This is Quentin Tarantino’s Favorite Quentin Tarantino Character
On Friday at the Jerusalem Film Festival, though, Tarantino qualified his statement by saying he may just come out of retirement at 75 if he decides that he has “another story to do”, per Collider. “So when all the characters of “Reservoir Dogs” or “Pulp Fiction”, when they go to the movies, “Kill Bill” is what they go to see”. The plan is a simple one, but one that we desperately want to talk him out of: retire after ten films.

When I wrote the scene in the opening, in the farmhouse, I didn’t know yet that Colonel Landa was a linguistic genius, but during the course of writing the script, he became a linguistic genius.
Although Quentin admitted he will stop making films after he has met his target of 10 movies, he has teased there may be a comeback many years later. “He’s probably one of the only Nazis in history who could speak flawless Yiddish”, Tarantino said.
If QT is really serious, then we should treasure the time we have left with him by looking forward to what he’s got left in the tank and also understanding what we’re going to be losing by revisiting his old films. While I understand his obsession with keeping his filmography pristine, it sure would be great to get more than two new Tarantino films for the rest of time, so it’s nice to hear he’s not wholly opposed to reversing his decision.
When reflecting on Inglorious Basterds in particular, Tarantino then conceded that he nearly canned the movie because he struggled to find an actor capable of portraying Hans Landa – possibly the best character he’s ever written, according to the man himself.

Wonder no more as the director has finally revealed his best creation – but it’s probably not who you’d expect. Basterds is a masterpiece, and Landa is the lynchpin that holds it all together. But I think this is all about appreciating what you have in the moment before it’s gone. During a Q&A segment, he revealed that Hans Landa was his favorite character.
