This Malicious Website Can Crash Your iPhone In Seconds

This latest issue comes only days after a website began circulating a prank called CrashSafari that also brought the web browser to a standstill and caused the phone to crash.

Twitter user Thom O’Neil was one of hundreds to report the problem: “Safari on my iPhone crashes every time I try and type in the search bar”, he wrote.

iPhone users beware! there is a new URL in town that would crash your iPhone or any Apple device.

On iOS, the issue is a bit more problematic.

Wired said Crashsafari runs javascript that overloads the victim’s history with a barrage of addresses to initiate the crash.

The problem appears to be related to the browser’s search suggestions feature, and a temporary fix involves going into the settings menu to turn off Safari suggestions.

Apple support forums online pointed to Safari’s search suggestions box as the source of the glitch.

Update: Apple has fixed the bug and the Safari Browser is not crashing anymore when typing in the address bar. Just past year, the Internet discovered that sending a specific string of characters to an iPhone via text message could force the device to restart.

Another option was to disable Safari Suggestions by navigating to Settings Safari then toggle Safari Suggestions to Off.

Now, when you load the website in Safari for OS X, the page loads indefinitely.

The good news is that visiting this website causes no permanent damage to your device.
