Multiple rounds of freezing rain will affect Central Kansas starting Friday into early Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The city will be applying salt to roads with temperatures higher than a month ago. Snow and sleet is also in the forecast, and may mix with freezing rain.
Meteorologists say the potential for a significant ice storm is increasing.
Whitmore said drivers should plan extra time for their commutes and be cautious when driving on roadways that appear wet because they could be icy. If temperatures don’t climb above freezing the ice will remain until Sunday afternoon, with more accumulations possible Saturday night.
On and off light freezing rain and freezing drizzle will continue all day today while moderate rain continues in southeastern Oklahoma.
It may be a slow push north.
“But, then the intensities pick up a little through the morning and continue into the afternoon”.
Winds will gradually become northeast Monday and gust near 20 miles per hour at times. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
In central IN we won’t begin seeing those systems move IN until sometime Friday evening. East wind 6 to 9 miles per hour.
The advisory area encompasses much of Central Illinois, including Christian, Macon, Moultrie, and Shelby counties. Chance of precipitation wil be 70 percent.
Freezing rain is now expected later this evening and continuing overnight. And accuweather.com suggested Friday morning that Ottumwa was still in line for.39 inches of ice. Near steady temperature around 30. East wind around 6 miles per hour. This is a long duration for a freezing rain event. High in the mid 30s.
Prieto said the weather service on Friday had revised its forecast issued the previous day to reflect that the storm is expected to arrive a bit later than initially expected. Temperatures will climb into the mid 30s. Nearly 10 years to the day afterward, weather forecasters are predicting another ice storm to hit the county starting tonight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
