Thomas Davis Suffers Arm Injury vs. Cardinals

Davis, an outside linebacker, left Bank of America Stadium after the 49-15 NFC title win over Arizona vowing to be back in the lineup for the Super Bowl 50 shot against Denver. He went on to say that he is “fully expecting to playing on Sunday”. While he’s certainly closer to the end of his career than the beginning, Davis is proving every time he steps out onto the field what heart and want to can accomplish.

Allen, a 12-year veteran, is as likely to miss his first chance to play in a Super Bowl as Davis, who’s in his 12th season.

Rivera said if anybody can play through the pain, it would be Davis, who has battled back from three torn ACLs in the same knee to play at an All-Pro level.

According to Davis’ wife Kelly, he underwent surgery early Monday in Charlotte still determined to play against the Broncos. “You will have to take his jerseys away from him – all five them, even the ones at home. – to before he sits out this game”.

After three ACL surgeries, a little broken arm is apparently nothing to Thomas Davis.

“He told me he’s going to be ready, so we’ll see”, Rivera added. “(My status) hasn’t changed, still looking forward to playing on Super Bowl Sunday”.

Davis was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2015, an honor he and his nine Panthers teammates had to bypass to prepare for the Super Bowl.

Davis said he was still experimenting with trainers about what type of protection he’ll use for the arm, adding he won’t be weighed down by the bulky club-type casts linemen sometimes wear.

The Panthers’ linebacker has yet to get on the practice field since the injury and Blackmon did say that Davis said they are still working on a few things to protect his arm.
