Criminal Minds actor Thomas Gibson, who plays Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, has been fired from the USA crime drama following a physical fight with one of the show’s co-executive producers and writers, Virgil Williams.

On Thursday, it was revealed that longtime Criminal Minds cast member, Thomas Gibson, has been suspended from the CBS crime drama after clashing with a writer and kicking him in the leg. Whoa!

A source disclosed to People magazine said that almost two weeks ago, while directing an episode for season 12, Gibson kicked the screenwriter in the leg.

As reported by People, the iconic CBS crime drama will continue into its 12th season without the SC native, who admitted he had “hoped to see it through to the end” but knew after the incident with Virgil Williams that it simply would not be possible. I regret that it occurred.

CBS said that Gibson’s character will be written off but his whereabouts will be mentioned onscreen in an upcoming episode.

Gibson has been on the show since it launched in 2005.

Gibson’s exit followed a physical altercation last month between him and another member of the “Criminal Minds” company on the series’ Los Angeles set.

The new “Criminal Minds” season begins September 28. He pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving.

“Criminal Minds” has weathered plenty of star turnover during its long run. His co-stars, as well as the crew have been verbally abused by Gibson. He played criminal profiler Aaron Hotchner. He attended the Juilliard School on a scholarship, graduating in 1985. His big break as an actor came in landing a role in the 1992 Tom Cruise-Nicole Kidman starrer “Far and Away”. He toplined the ABC sitcom “Dharma & Greg” opposite Jenna Elfman from 1997-2002.
