Thompson leads Warriors’ charge past Thunder in WCF Game 6

It was sloppy, but the Golden State Warriors have forced a Game 7.

With the NBA Finals primarily being on basic cable, now on ABC, this doesn’t take into account views for those games.

“I knew, down the stretch, he’s the MVP for a reason”, Thompson said of Curry.

“We know we’ve got another game to play”.

Oklahoma City dominated Games 3 and 4 at home, but the Warriors made 21 of 44 three-pointers on Saturday, while Oklahoma City was 3 of 23.

“About time we have a stretch where we opposed our will”, he later said. Kevin Durant scored 29 points and Russell Westbrook added 28, but they shot a combined 34 percent from the field and were a miserable 1-for-13 from 3-point range.

“I started out the game slow, and we’re not going to go far if I’m not being aggressive”.

Thompson set an National Basketball Association playoff record by hitting 11 3-pointers. Curry then hit two 3s, the second of which tied the game at 99 with 2:47 to play.

“I am just so proud of everybody, man”, Thompson, who scored a playoff career-high 41 points including a league playoff record of 11 three-pointers in Game 6, said. Golden State has done a fantastic job to dig out of a 3-1 series hole, but the hardest win still lies ahead on Monday as both teams are now playing for their playoff lives. “They were down and out, but Klay Thompson took this game to another level”, another said. They left players often at the most inopportune of times.

Durant led all scorers for the Thunder with 29 points, also contributing seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks.

And really, given that the game was in Oklahoma City, maybe their comeback victory on the road was improbable enough for you.

The ending was surreal considering the Thunder had control all game long. But it was Westbrook and especially Durant who stood out with their bad decisions and selfishness in the closing minutes, leading the Thunder to a game 7 they really didn’t play.

The Thunder (3-2) are coming from a Game 6 loss in which they could have ended the series.

The Warriors got more intense.

The Warriors beat the Thunder to force a decisive Game 7 at Oracle Arena. After Game 5, Westbrook had laughed when Durant was asked whether Curry was an underrated defender.

“He understood the moment”, Stephen Curry said of Thompson.
