Thompson’s Big Night Carries Golden State Warriors Over Knicks
The league’s leading scorer Stephen Curry is the scoring machine that makes Golden State Warriors go, but it was his teammate shooting guard Klay Thompson who was most responsible for the record-tying victory.

Thompson, who was 14 for 18 from the field, including 5 for 6 from 3-point range, also spoke of the pride he felt resisting the temptation to force bad shots while he was shooting well as Curry struggled.
A night after managing just 17 points in the fourth quarter and needing Harrison Barnes’ 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left to rescue them in a 108-105 victory over the 76ers, Golden State’s high-powered offense was still stuck in neutral to open the game.
Green scored 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 10 assists in the Warriors’ (44-4) seventh straight victory.
The Golden State Warriors struggled a bit early, looking either exhausted or jittery to start, but the defending champions quickly regained their composure to breeze past the Knicks, 116-95, at Madison Square Garden Sunday night.
“I thought it was really great”, Kerr said.
“That’s what we do”, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. A strong third-quarter saw the Warriors extend the margin by a further 11-points, giving them a buffer heading into the fourth. Thompson probably would have had 50+ points on any other team, the way he played tonight.
Thompson totaled 34 points, Green finished with 20 while submitting his ninth triple-double of the season. The 76ers came close, eventually losing the game with just a blink of an eye left on the clock.but the fans are perhaps more excited about this performance than any win this season.but the media will turn the blind eye and talk about how the Warriors nearly threw the win away or how they didn’t play their typical game.
On the final Warriors’ possession, guard Stephen Curry fired a pass from the right wing to forward Draymond Green at the top of the circle. Golden State recorded a season-high 60 points in the paint against Philadelphia on Saturday…. Smith had 16 points, nine assists and four steals, while forward Robert Covington collected 12 points and 13 rebounds. Golden State erased a 31-30 Knicks lead with a 10-2 run for a 40-33 edge with 5:07 to play in the second quarter. The Warriors had 37 assists and have had at least 30 in each of their last six contests.
Second-year big men Jerami Grant and Nerlens Noel stood out in the defeat, with star rookie Jahlil Okafor missing the game due to a bout of flu.
The Golden State Warriors will try and keep their 7-game winning streak alive as they travel to the Verizon Center to battle John Wall and the Washington Wizards (21-24), Wednesday at 5:00 P.M. PT.
Orlando’s Evan Fournier scored 24 points as the Magic was reacquainted with winning, downing Boston 119-114.

Having missed a three-pointer with the game tied 99-99 at the end of regulation Ellis converted another with 20.4 seconds to go in overtime to seal a second straight win for the Pacers. With a team that uses any excuse to find motivation and run all over teams, their next game against the New York Knicks, with a day of rest to think about their mistakes, doesn’t bode well for their opponents.
