Thompson scores 43, Curry 25 as champs crush Suns

Thompson was back in form as he scored 43 points Wednesday in the Warriors’ 128-103 romp over Phoenix in their first game since losing to the Bucks. Its 28-game winning streak, counting the final four games of last season, came to a halt.

Then Thompson turned his attention to the Warriors’ next game, which he said had been circled on the calendar.

“We got a bucket off it, too.”

They held it together for a quarter and a half, but that was an EF5 bearing down on them. Curry poured it on with two 3-pointers, a layup and an assist for a Green 3-pointer.

Who would have thought that a game between the Bucks and the Warriors in December would be highly anticipated?

“When he gets to clicking, there’s no better thing to watch”, Stephen Curry said.

San Antonio 114, Washington Wizards 95: Kawhi Leonard scored 11 of 27 points in a decisive 31-19 third quarter and the Spurs (22-5) set a franchise-record with their 23rd consecutive home win, including 14-0 to start the season, after whipping the Wizards (10-14). “We all have to do our part”.

The Warriors also should be more fresh for the rematch.

Regardless of what exclusively happened in the match, with the inside-court plays, there is rationality which leads to an interpretation of why the Bucks were the first to beat the Warriors this season.

“But they know now, so it’ll be a fun game”, he said.

It was just his second game since spraining his right ankle late in the win over the Pacers.

Rookie Karl Anthony Towns had 25 and 10 rebounds for Minnesota (9-16) while Spaniard Ricky Rubio finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists and eight steals. More than one Warriors player reported that he said something to them as well. “So we’ve just got to stay with it, play as a team and stay composed”.

Mirza Teletovic scored 24 points off the bench to lead the Suns, whose poor showing sent the sellout crowd to the exits midway through the fourth.

“You have to do everything right against these guys”, Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said.

The Bucks have been painfully bad throughout the first 30 percent of this season, but there can be little disputing that they put in an outstanding performance in adding the first blemish to Golden State’s previously 24-0 start. The home game was the Warriors’ first since November 27, an 18-day span that was the club’s longest since moving west in 1962….

Draymond Green had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his fourth triple-double this season.

He nearly dunked in the Warriors win over the Suns Wednesday, but in looking at video of that shot, it was more of an elevated layup.
