“The church is blessed to be able to provide this service for the community”, Walkup said.

“All of the produce is local”, Davis said. “We are so grateful for their contribution”. “And of course the traditional menu of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce will be served”.

Over the last 12 years, it has grown and grown and grown, bringing people together for a time of friendship, food, music and fun. Letters and flyers have been sent to surrounding communities and churches advising those of the event. “This dinner is a way to connect with people and we want to extend the love we share outside of our four walls and bless our community”.

It is a yearly tradition for many, who often join their own families for Thanksgiving dinner later.

But organizers said they are facing a problem.

When Bush died, donations were made to the church in lieu of flowers.

Presenter Jennifer Calvelage says a little planning can take a dinner that’s high in cholesterol and make it healthier.

The organization is still seeking volunteers to help with the event. They first pack up and deliver turkey dinners and lots of extras to many people in meals on wheels programs, or to anyone who finds coming out hard. Businesses have stepped up either financially or by contributing gift baskets.
