Those Thrones book release rumours aren’t real

A listing on Amazon France, which has now been taken down, had indicated the sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, would be due out on the 9th March 2017.

It seemed as though Amazon France had accidentally revealed the book’s release date: March 9, 2017.

It nearly seemed like “A Song of Ice and Fire” fans were finally about to get a definitive release date for the highly anticipated “The Winds of WInter”.

After all Martin has said in the past he would announce the publication date for the book himself on his blog, and this is just one site listing this date.

Martin’s United Kingdom publisher HarperCollins also echoed the sentiment after the Amazon post went viral, insisting “nothing has been finalized regarding the publication or the date”, Entertainment Weekly reports. The post reads, “Another ISBN of The Winds of Winter has been registered with the ISBN office”.

If the book does release in March 2017, it would precede the premiere of “Game of Thrones” Season 7.

Because George RR Martin has yet to finish The Winds of Winter, producers of the show have had to overtake him in the series. Did the release date for The Winds of Winter just get leaked? So when Amazon France listed the book with a sale date, fans’ hopes were reawakened. Season 6 was the first season of “Game of Thrones” to not be based on an existing “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel.

USA publisher Random House told EW: “We support George RR Martin as he works hard to finish The Winds of Winter“.

According to the report, the new ISBN registration could mean that the book will be readily available in the near future.

Fans of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series have been waiting for “The Winds of Winter” for five years and counting. The series has been adapted for TV under the title Game Of Thrones. Could we even dare for a fast back-to-back publish? To reiterate: This comes with no confirmation from Martin, who will surely share the good news once he’s finally finished working on the thing that’s been hanging over his head since July 2011, when A Dance With Dragons was released.
