Though numbers are getting closer, Trump still has strong lead

Both Cruz and Trump have run provocative campaigns, slamming the Republican establishment and vowing to take a hard line on just about everything, including immigration.

Even though his closest rival is catching up a little, Republican front-runner Donald Trump still has the lead by double digits in the race for the GOP Presidential nomination.

Cruz swept Colorado, winning all 21 delegates elected at congressional district assemblies and all 13 delegates elected at the state assembly on Saturday. “We demand that every Colorado delegate be thrown out of the convention because they are Trojan horse delegates and they don’t belong”. Rubio told commentator Mark Levin in an interview Wednesday. The difference between 17 and 71 could ultimately be large enough to determine whether Trump captures the Republican nomination. Rubio won only one state (Minnesota), along with Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

Trump now has 758 delegates, Cruz has 538, Marco Rubio has 173 and John Kasich has 145. Most delegates are pledged to their respective candidates for the first ballot.

The top vote-getter in Pennsylvania wins 17 statewide delegates.

Meanwhile, he admits Trump has lost some of his luster since the IL primary, saying he hit below the belt when he went after Cruz’s wife.

All of Indiana’s delegates will be committed to vote based on the results of the primary election on the first convention ballot. His argument was that he hadn’t ended his candidacy but merely suspended it. “Because as it turns out, according to the rules, buying delegates might not be illegal. How can he do this, how can somebody who lost, try to get delegates?”, he wondered.

“I look forward to being with the great people of California and sharing my vision to Make America Great Again”, Trump said in a news release announcing the appearance.

The state party eliminated a poll that would have shown who caucus-goers supported for president, so some had to vote on delegates to the state and other gatherings without knowing which candidate they supported. “Donald Trump doesn’t get nervous”, Mr. Cohen said on CNN’s “New Day”.
